From GW2 wiki (WIKI IS YOUR FRIEND)GW2 Controls

Controls
The control & movement system is going to be significantly changed. In particular, mouse movement in the form “click to move” will be removed from the game; however, target locking will still function. Guild Wars 2 will be a true 3D environment which will allow characters to jump over obstacles as well as swim and dive underwater. Flight will not be a featured character capability in Guild Wars 2. Furthermore, the new animation coding will allow separate tracks for upper and lower body components, in effect allowing players to activate more skills while running or jumping, for smoother combat immersion.

I am not sure just what click to move is.

From what little we’ve heard, Click-to-Move has been axed and you can only move via WASD.

If this truly the way GW2 is going to work.
It just might be a deal breaker for me.

What do you think?

This is not going to work for me. I am not proficent on the computer and rarely use my left hand except to chat. This would REALLY slow me down!

I found the click to move feature rarely used. Now if i could have clicked to move on the mini map. THAT, would have been convenient! WASD is were it’s at for PC’ers unless u wanna connect a gamepad, that might be interesting?

I have not used WASD since my commander 64 days on any game, and for me if I can’t use my mouse the game needs to be will worth it.

Also my laptop does not have a number pad.
So my left had would be on the WADS and could not hit the first 4 or 5 skills.
Over all I think not having a mouse is a big hit to the game.

  4. Sacirius says:

Please forgive me Elgon, but the click to move is going to be eliminated from the game, I don’t read that all mouse movement will be removed. Have I read that correctly?

The control & movement system is going to be significantly changed. In particular, mouse movement in the form “click to move” will be removed from the game; however, target locking will still function. Control of combat will be more active; including blocking skills that are “held down”, ground-targeting for spells and attacks, and hit detection that allows one player to block area-based damage from reaching other players. Guild Wars 2 will be a true 3D environment which will allow characters to jump over obstacles as well as swim and dive underwater. New animation coding will allow separate tracks for upper and lower body components, allowing players to activate more skills while running or jumping for smoother combat immersion.

they have not said what the mouse will be use for…
    aiming a weapon maybe???

The only way to move around will be with the WASD.

And there is a lot more keyboard usage,
having to HOLD a key down to build up a skill

  6. Guild Leader says:

Also the camera movement and angle has been taken away from us with the mouse action.

It will be closer and automatic.
